Expand your visual awareness.
With an emphasis on drawing, learn to look at things for accuracy and understanding. Examine the fundamentals of drawing and of composition with analysis of light and shadow, value, colour and edges.
Drawing and painting from a live model, learn about the materials and techniques of oil painting with a certain simplification and design of large masses, described in value and colour. Develop proper proportion and structure of heads and figures; understanding of light and its application. Study colour and value with the use of restricted palettes and the development of the figure in composition. You will be completing a single painting over the three day period of a nude or semi nude model with props.
At least one demo will be given.
This short course is suitable for artists with some experience drawing the figure.
Jim Auckland has been an illustrator and fine artist since 1973 when he graduated from the prestigious Art Center College of Design. Jim has received extensive recognition for work he has created in the sports and entertainment fields. Clients in the entertainment industry include: Warner Brothers, Walt Disney Studios, Columbia Pictures and Rhythm and Hues.
He has created portrait collections of famous athletes for NFL Properties, The Upper Deck Company, The Franklin Mint, The Bradford Exchange and the NBA. His painting are included in the collections of The Buffalo Bills, The National Football League, Hughes Aircraft Company, General Mills, The United States Air Force and The Library of Congress.
