      Artisan Satin Varnish is a water based varnish which does not contain any hazardous solvents. The varnish provides finished paintings protection from diret and grease and when dirty itself, can be removed with Artisan Varnish Remover. Artisan paintings should be allowed to dry completely before varnishing at least 6-12 months for thing vilms, longer for impasto paintings.

      Winsor & Newton Distilled Turpentine

      All solvents vary in strength and their capacity to 'loosen up' the body of the colour. The artists' grade solvent with the greatest power is English Distilled Turpentine, the only artists' grade solvent capable of easily dissolving Dammar resin. Turpentine makes a viscous mixture, evaporates slowly, is the most hazadous and strongest smelling solvent commonly used by artists.

      Not strictly a solvent, Artists' Picture Cleaner is a liquid which is designed for the cleaning of varnished paintings and is an excellent product for this purpose. It works by dissolving linseed oil oxidation and will remove surface dirt and the products of oxidation in the old varnish. It contains an emulsified mixture of Copaiba balsam, dipentene and pine oil with ammonia.

      This modelling paste is lightweight and flexible so it doesn't shrink or crack. It thickens the consistency of the colour, building body and structure and accentuating texture, brush marks and palette knife marks. It also increases the opacity of the colour. It is ideal for carving, sanding and creating extreme textures. It can be used to easily and quickly build up depth in layers, and either over painted when dry or mixed with colour. Due to its high opacity it may lighten certain colours. It provides an even matt finish.

      This additive slows the drying time of acrylic colour to give you more working time for extended blending and manipulation. This additive has been formulated to match the consistency of the colour. This means that none of the characteristics of the colour are affected, except the drying time. You can mix Slow Drying Medium with any other medium in the range to slow the drying. This additive maintains no colour shift from wet to dry when used with Winsor & Newton Artists' Acrylic, unlike other slow drying mediums.

    Delivery Rates

    Our delivery rates are:

    • Prepaid A4 Satchel (nationwide): $5 per order
    • Local (Auckland): $5.50 per order *
    • Local Towns (within 150kms): $7.50 per order *
    • Rest of North Island: $9.30 per order *
    • South Island and Great Barrier: $10.40 per order *

    Prepaid Satchel is available for some smaller items that will fit into an A4 envelope. Please do not select the satchel option if your goods are breakable, easily damaged or flammable.
    * Oversized items may be charged an additional amount - once you have selected the items you need proceed to checkout to see the exact costs.
